The cute, bubbly Alia Bhatt has become one of the top ranking actress in a short span of time. With stupefying performances in Highway and Udta Punjab, she is back with yet another astounding role in Raazi. Adaption of Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat is set to hit the theatres on May 11, directed by Meghna Gulzar and produced by Karan Johar.
Raazi features Alia Bhatt portraying as an Indian spy married to a Pakistani man played by Vicky Kaushal during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan war. Three posters have been released, each of them showing a different side of Alia’s character. One of the posters shows her in a wedding dress, it captures an emotional moment with her father.
Second poster shows her dressed in an ethnic attire as a loyal and loving wife standing with her husband Vicky Kaushal.
The third and final poster boasts Alia in a fearless spy avatar, she can be seen as determined to fulfill her destiny. This is as real as it gets, with a powerful performer like Alia in the movie and a storyline like Raazi this movie is bound to give you goose bumps. With a woman as lead, it is bound to break some misconceptions.
A 39 second movie teaser was released today in which Alia can be seen in a burkha, responding to a call from the other side and saying the words Raazi in the end. With so many social posts and this teaser Raazi has become one of the highly anticipated movies of this year.
According to Alia, Sehmat is the most selfless character she has ever played. This has been the most challenging role im her career so far, her transitioning from an emotional Kashmiri woman to a fearless spy.
Alia has put in a lot of sweat and hardwork in this role by learning Urdu and unlearning any Urdu she picked in the past. She even learned Morse code and shooting because she wanted everything real no shortcuts.
